Great video thanks. Pretty sure i played this one on my mate’s Saturn. Surprised it doesn’t get talked about much these days. And yep, Bill Paxton (RIP) was excellent. He was perfectly cast as the polygamous main character in HBO’s excellent Big Love series.

Bleurgh. I’m sure I have fired off this mishap story before. But I recall some bully-boy Electronic Boutique employees stopping me from buying Ridge Racer, Starblade Alpha and or Ace Combat on secondhand to buy ALIEN Trilogy fullpriced to fulfil their weekly sales quota. The game performed like DOOM but with the controls and speed of a cargo ship not avoiding a baltimore bridge 28 years later (to the date 29/03/1996 UK release check that synchronicity!). What an absolute disgrace.

I always pronounced it Zeenomorph, but now I’m questioning myself! Isn’t that how it was pronounced in Cameron’s Aliens?

They were indeed, but remember – as George rightly points out – for some reason in this game the Aliens are Mexican! 😉

Thanks for uploading George – I have fond memories of playing this one back in the day. I also thought this was a much more fun / polished Aliens game than the naff AvP one on the jaguar people seem to rave about 😊

The Jaguar’s developer support was poor, the hardware needed a bug fixing to truly perform well. So nobody is saying AvP is a brilliant Alien game, just a decent Jaguar game given the devs were left to fend for themselves.

Where did you learn to fly? Says everyone when Colette Ferro crashes the UD-4 “Cheyenne” Dropship. AVP came out a full 2 years prior to trilolgy. The same year as DOOM. Cut it some slack.

Yep. Plus there’s a reason most Jaguar games suck. The developers just couldn’t get things working, had poor docs and support. So most ended up just doing Atari ST type games by using the 68000 to draw on the screen.

I can well believe it mate – I would rank club drive and fight for life on the jag as among the worst games I’ve ever played.

The 3DO’s problems were being a bit too early for the 3D revolution (Saturn was the same) and a lack of vertical integration. Two sets of profit margins applied to the hardware as a result, 3DOs profit on the tech and the third party having to make a profit too.

It’s all the fault of Predator 2 which had a xenomorph skull in the spaceship at the end.
