I had a look at Sam’s twitter, Slice + Dice (her business) and her kickstarter to move the business. Could be completely wrong of me to assume but if you look at the dates, she’s in New York on holiday watching a load of Broadway shows literally while asking for money to move her business via kickstarter? She was only asking for £3k to move. I wouldn’t be surprised if that holiday had costed a good chunk of that if not all.

I just don’t see why you can’t pay for these things yourself. It’s your business, it’s your profit, it’s your cost. Like I said, this is just assuming she paid for the holiday herself, but from the outside it looks like the second time she’s abusing kickstarter. It worked the first.

I take it Simon has only paid £1 so he can comment?

I remember the days when people would put their two pence worth into a discussion. Now the going rate is a whole quid? I knew inflation was out of control but bloody hell…

Call me old fashioned, but there’s no such thing as a real man who sends a woman out to fight his battles for him.

Ironically it’s called “no man’s land” and two of the biggest cowards in retrogaming at the moment (Richard “Top Hat Gaming Man” Varty and Peter “Nostalgia Nerd” Leigh) seem to agree with that term.

Yourself, Chinnyvision and Simon are the ones really talking about this. Any chance of another podcast with you and Simon soon?
One thing I can’t help but believe is that they literally have just enough money for an empty shell of a building. We have to pay for the rest? Ie the contents, decoration and the consumables.

We’re not even paying for the arcade units, those are being supplied by play expo (most likely as a free housing/promotional thing).

In fact with the last update the taps have been fitted, accounts setup with local breweries to supply and furnishings being fitted.

So if the arcade kit is sourced, food drink are sorted, kitchen is being moved over to from the old site, furniture is being moved over, lighting and painting are already done without the campaign money….

Then what IS the money actually for?

Answer: debt consolidation

Not the best choice of arcade supplier. Would be a better option to buy old machines themselves and repair them.

I wonder who’ll pay to fix the machines when they get damaged?

So I have a lot say about this mess however I keep deleting it as it goes on for far to long. So I will try to keep it short

When did Norwich become the centre of the UK retro gaming universe ?

What last update told us nothing, where the hell is Peter / Nostalgia Nerd / Laptop Vegan, its his KS he should be all this answering all the questions. Perhaps he has take a leaf out all the Americans and thinks he is too good for YT. Thats why you are “famous”, people want videos from you, not books or other crap. Maybe he is too busy to make videos doing whatever he does all week.

As it has been said time and time again this will fail and fail fast. If and that a big If, it makes it six months I will be surprised and shocked maybe even in bits.

What is this business ?
An arcade that sells some beer and vegan food
A bar that that sells vegan food and happens to have a few arcade machines
or
A vegan food place that sells beer and happens to have a few arcade machines
These are three very different businesses

What are the opening days / hours, I cant see many people wanting to play arcade games on a Monday afternoon.

Why £25k, what are they doing to-do with it. If they are running lots of machines then that will not even cover the electric bill
Despite what has been hinted in the video no you tubers will be found in this place unless its an event. They do not want to brothered by fans. No they are all too busy for that

What really gets me is the why people in the UK retro scene are coming to the defence of this. I just do not understand why. All George and a few others have done as ask questions and talk about publicly available information. THEY WANT 25 GRAND FOR NO CLEAR REASON ! What the hell is wrong with people

Norwich became retro central when Peter and Ashens decided they wanted it all to revolve around them.

I can see them recreating the fight sequence in anchorman, this time between different retro groups.

I’m guessing that the money would be to pay off some of the debt incurred in pursuing this business venture. If they are going to start with or without the kickstarter, that’s all I can see it be used for. I’m sick of all the online grifters and e-beggars. It’s not just the “retro” scene but just about any hobby or topic you can think off. Anyone constantly showing a room or wall filled with old games and electronics who keep e-begging is just a twat.

Certain individuals strongly dislike Simon’s honest reviews of their products, but he bases them on verified purchases.

So he will have backed this project, just so he can put the Q’s the community want answered, but from the stance of an individual who’s put his money into it, before asking.

So, we’ve seen Richard, in BITS, but able to steer a video where his missus turns on the waterworks..

Now we have Peter sending his out to face the screaming hordes.

Good grief Peter, set a seperate KS up to fund a backbone and set of stones, you clearly can’t deal with constructive criticism and questioning.

Thats what I love about Simon he is honest, some og the retro YT crowd hate him because he is honey and calls it like he sees it. As he worked on games they cant just dismiss him as “another troll”

As you have said before, the well is running dry. We know it they must know it ! What will they all do then move on to covering the NES from a UK perspective, any thingg to they dont have to go it and find a job.

It’s a shame that none of these YouTubers have the balls to come out and make videos about how the video game crash never happened in the UK. Americans love being angry at dumb stuff, and the mere thought of a world where the video game crash never happened would encourage millions of them to hate watch and then sperg out in the comments section. The algorithm doesn’t care if the engagement is positive or negative, it just cares that there’s engagement happening at all.

I see most of them are going to be guest speakers at OLL23 Nerd, Dazz, Ashens, and other grifters such as Gebs24, and Gamesmisstress. It’s a total joke. I really think their should be a total boycott of the event unless OLL drops them.

Lol yep have you not noticed? All her content is about how valuable and rare a game is. I stopped watching her crap long ago.

Don’t normally watch her stuff, sort of gone off YouTube retro gaming. Hardly anyone sits down and actually plays the games themselves anymore.

Watched a video of her talking about a list of great Amiga games she clearly never played to someone else’s footage

I fucking hate that kind of stuff.

I don’t see Gebs24 as a grifter, her videos are not very engaging but she has featured the Amiga scene for a while which is alright by me, she certainly doesn’t come across as someone who would grift – to me anyway.

She’s at the very least, dull and uninspired.
